Lake Garda is full of places to explore, just waiting to be visited and immortalized. If you are looking for an original way to discover the beauty that Lake Garda can offer and want to focus your visit in one day, a nice idea and appreciated both by adults and children is to do it navigating, starting by boat from one of the docks of Navigazione Lago di Garda, taking part in a guided and tailor-made boat tour, or renting a boat to travel independently.
The tour of the lower lake is one of the most popular, as it allows you to organize a fantastic and unforgettable trip in a few hours: it will be possible to admire by water the architectural and landscape beauties of the main towns of the lower lake that have made the Benaco known in the world .
Here are the places that, in our opinion, are absolutely not to be missed:
- Lazise and Bardolino: they are among the most famous places of the lower lake and therefore you have to do an overview of their beautiful lakeside promenades and harbors from the water
- Garda and Punta San Vigilio, optimal location for a refreshing swim in the crystal clear water. Punta San Vigilio is a magical corner of greenery that overlooks the lake and offers beautiful views that can be captured through a photograph.
- Crossing of the western lake, heading towards Gardone Riviera where, from a distance, you can see the Vittoriale degli italiani, a monumental citadel dedicated to the famous poet-soldier Gabriele D'Annunzio, and the botanical garden Heller Garden, famous for its botanical species from all over the world, contemporary art and scenographic effects.
- Gulf of Salò, charming with its equipped gravel beach and docks, ideal for a short break during the tour.
- An obligatory stop is the Isola del Garda, residence of the Cavazza family. The island hosts an elegant villa dating back to the early 1900s immersed in a very particular and suggestive vegetation, which you can visit with a guided tour of about two hours.
- Rocca di Manerba, for those who love to combine historical knowledge with nature and landscapes, given the presence of ancient finds on the top, the park under the fortress and the beautiful view you can have on Lake Garda. In this area there are also nudist beaches for naturism lovers.
- Desenzano del Garda, with its picturesque old port and impressive Venetian-style buildings, is one of the most popular tourist destinations. In this characteristic city, every first Sunday of the month, an antiques market takes place.
- Sirmione, called the "Pearl of the Lake" thanks to the beauty of the surrounding landscape and the buildings, streets and squares that preserve the charm and harmony of the past. Sirmione is famous for its crystal clear water, for the Castello Scaligero full of history and charm and for the Grotte di Catullo, that is the remains of a Roman villa situated in a splendid panoramic position.
- Peschiera del Garda, characteristic "walled city" surrounded by canals, overlooking the lake at the point where the water flow into the Mincio emissary. In Peschiera del Garda you can find welcoming beaches, charming historic alleys and cafes directly on the Mezzo canal. Among the alleys you will also find a lot of shops and restaurants, as well as beautiful historic buildings, squares and churches.
