Around Lake Garda there are many places that are particularly suitable for families with children, inviting them to play and have fun. The playgrounds are located near the lake and always in the immediate vicinity of the most beautiful villages of Lake Garda.
Our journey begins at the northern tip of the lake: the splendid Riva del Garda, where the lake meets the mountains and leaves visitors speechless.
In Riva, the playground is located just a few steps from the tourist office and the famous water castle La Rocca. It is a colorful area with slides and swings that is fun even for the youngest children, a net pyramid for climbing and wooden huts for hiding. From the playground in Riva del Garda departs a little tourist train that takes children on a discovery tour of the town.
Close to Riva del Garda, and quickly reachable by bike, is the village of Torbole. Here, directly on the beach and with a magnificent view of the lake, there is a second playground with swings and climbing frames, where the children can have fun and the family can enjoy a wonderful view at the same time. Especially beautiful is the time of sunset, when the sky over the lake turns into a painting. Next to the playground there are benches and an outdoor seating area where families can make themselves comfortable and relax.
As you approach the Venetian side of Lake Garda, you can see from a distance on a hill the Scaliger Castle at the north end of the center of Malcesine. An impressive castle that overlooks the lake. Malcesine is a picturesque, beautiful place of Lake Garda and families will find a playground that will provide variety while exploring Malcesine.
Just a few steps from the town hall (in Via della Parrocchia) there is a colorful and well-maintained playground, suitable even for the youngest: different types of swings, low slides and merry-go-rounds make it an exciting playground and a must for those visiting Malcesine with children.
Further south you come to Torri del Benaco and Bardolino, where there is no shortage of opportunities to play. In Torri del Benaco, on the lake promenade heading north, there is a very nice, well-equipped playground in a green, well-kept park. Right next door there is a small bar with refreshing drinks and ice cream, ideal for relaxing after the game.
Behind the church of San Nicolò in Bardolino, there is a playground with different play areas, depending on the age of the children. For the youngest there is a sailing ship to board and hide, swings and seesaws; for the older ones there are rope structures and giant stones to climb, as well as a basketball court for a game in the green. The shady square is the ideal place for a break after a walk through the village and along the beautiful lakeshore.
Lido di Cisano, which can be reached on foot or by bike from Bardolino, also offers a simple playground near the Lazise-Bardolino-Garda bike path . Here there are slides, swings, and a wonderful view of the lake.
On the western shore of the lake, the Lombard shore, begins the description of various playgrounds north from Limone sul Garda. Here there is a playground in a small park, surrounded by olive trees and not far from the town center. A small train, wooden huts and a slide invite children to play. Tables for a picnic with the family make the excursion a special experience.
Also, on the Lombard shore of Lake Garda is Gargnano, and here too it is a small playground with a slide and swings that provides fun during a short break from play.
A visit to the picturesque town of Salò, one of the most beautiful places on the Lombard shore of Lake Garda, is a must. Before a walk along the lake, you will come across the town's playground (Via Pietro da Salò), which can be the first or last stop of a visit to Salò: Pin board, swings and a slide in a green area overlooking the lake are ideal for young children.
In the southern direction, in Manerba del Garda, 3 parks are worth mentioning:
* At the back of the Pieve Church there is a small playground, completely fenced and built in 2020: There is a slide, swings, and other small games.
* At Torchio port, on the lake shore, there is another small playground with slides, swings, and seesaws.
* Near the gym, just a short walk from the center of Manerba, there is a well-equipped playground with tables and benches.
For those visiting southern Lake Garda with children, here are some tips for playgrounds not to be missed.
On the way through the village of Sirmione , along the lake promenade that leads to the Caves of Catullo, you will come across a beautiful green area near the lake. This is a public garden with a simple playground with wooden structures (castle and swings) where children can play in a shaded area.
Leaving the town center, you reach Parco San Vito on the lake shore in the direction of Desenzano, an elegant park in the heart of the Sirmione peninsula, where concerts, musicals and much more take place in the summer. It is a well-kept green area ideal for a run in the fresh air by the lake, with a blanket and a book on the soft green grass to read. From Sirmione towards Peschiera, the Park Lugana di Sirmione is in a residential area with parking and a bar.
Peschiera also has no shortage of playgrounds, and there are two parks to check out:
* A recently built playground in the middle of the picturesque port of Bergamini, on the Bergamini-Fornaci lakeside promenade.
* A small playground on the bastion of the city walls of Peschiera, a UNESCO heritage site, a very quiet area with a great view of the fortified city and the canals of Peschiera del Garda.
The tour of the playgrounds of Lake Garda ends in Desenzano:
Here, at the beginning of the city's lakefront, by the Marinai d'Italia gardens, there is an area with children's playgrounds. Nearby parking is available and an interesting historical locomotive.
Near the swimming pools is the well-equipped Parco del laghetto with lots of greenery, fountains, a large parking lot, bar service in the summer, an ice-skating rink and skate park, 2 basketball courts, a 6-a-side soccer field, a children's playground and a dog park.
