An alternative way to explore the Garda Lake is by bicycle, be it by road or mountain bike.
Bicycle touring is the perfect fit for families and the more athletic, as well as an environmentally friendly and healthy way to discover nature and the historical treasures in the Verona area of Lake Garda. Even though they do not wind around the charming shores of lake Garda, there are two cycle routes with river view in the Verona area which are worth trying. The first is along the Val d'Adige bike path, which follows the banks of the river Adige from Verona to Cologna Veneta. The other is the River Mincio cycle route: easy and ideal for families with children. With the bus+bike and train+bike service you will be able to reach Mantua in a perfectly relaxed manner, setting out from Peschiera del Garda. All that's left to do is to get on your bike!
If the lower lake Garda is in general the ideal destination for a bicycle trip suitable for the whole family, Lake Garda Trentino is a land full of surprises for the mountain bike lovers: there are numerous paths of different difficulties, the most famous of all is the Ponale path that leads from Riva del Garda to Lake Ledro.
But the Trentino area of the lake also has 3 famous cycle paths suitable for the whole family: the Adige cycle path, which leads from Trento to Verona, the Adige-Garda cycle path, which connects Vallagarina to the Lake Garda area and the Valle dei Laghi cycle path, which starts from Torbole and runs along the Sarca river, the largest inlet on Lake Garda.
Furthermore, if you are a lover of good wine, during your bicycle tours you can also stop in one of the many wineries that you will find along the way!
The bicycle routes in the lower Lake Garda Bresciano area are suitable for those who love the tranquility of the hinterland hills and offer fantastic breathtaking views. These are routes completely immersed in nature, which can be traveled without particular difficulties and which are therefore suitable for the whole family.
If, on the other hand, you are looking for something more demanding and mountain bike routes, always along the Brescia coast north of Salò, you can find routes to discover the Parco dell’Alto Garda Bresciano.
