Bardolino Grape and Wine Festival
Bardolino's lakefront is tinged with red!
There are many traditional festivals on Lake Garda, but Bardolino's Grape and Wine Festival is without a doubt one of the most important, oldest and most prestigious on the lake. It is the event that marks the arrival of autumn while maintaining the desire for festivities that the energy of summer has left in our bodies.
Founded in 1929 to celebrate the grape harvest and wine, the Bardolino Grape and Wine Festival animates the centre of Bardolino every year between late September and early October during the first days of autumn, with many events and shows.
During the days of the festival, the following events stand out: evening music concerts, food and wine stalls, promotional stands for Bardolino wine, guided tastings organised by the Consorzio Tutela Vino Classico DOC, parades of music bands, theatre performances, conferences, meetings on the theme of wine, and exhibitions of the best Bardolino grapes and wine.
The Bardolino Wine Festival is one of the main events of early autumn, which brings thousands of tourists and locals to the magical streets of the town to celebrate an almost 100-year anniversary. This festival, very much felt in the area thanks to the area's ancient wine-making tradition, is an opportunity to attend several events such as festivals, shows, concerts, workshops for adults and children, and demonstrations in traditional costumes, in order to relive the history of the place and that of the local red wine par excellence.
In addition to the intense programme of the festival, the town of Bardolino also hosts food and wine stalls with typical local products, to taste the ancient flavours of the Veronese shores of Lake Garda and take part in the different Bardolino wine tastings organised by local associations and wineries in the kiosks located along the lakefront and in the Carrara Bottagisio Park.
The Bardolino Grape Festival is certainly one of the most important events in the area and in the Veneto region. As the child of an ancient wine tradition, this event is one of the most popular in the entire region, marking the start of an important series of events in October in Bardolino.
THE BARDOLINO
A wine with important and unique organoleptic characteristics: a brilliant ruby red colour, delicately fruity and fragrant, with notes of cherry, marasca cherry, strawberry, raspberry, currant and hints of spices, a dry, soft taste, characterised by the same sensations of crunchy red fruit and small fruit perceived on the nose, lightly spiced, with balance, freshness and considerable drinkability.
This is thanks to a particularly good territory, where the grapes can exalt their colour, aroma and taste.
The morainic hills and Lake Garda are, in fact, the essential backdrop where Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara are the main indigenous grape varieties of the area.
